12:35pm: A solid line up

There are plenty of sharks lurking today as the big names roll into town. Some of those in attendance here today include Michael Guzzardi, Manny Rodrigues, Tim Napper, Rennie Carnevale, Luke Edwards, Leo Boxell, Andrew Watson, Oliver Grujic, Tom Rafferty, Dale Townsend, Andrew Scarf, Dennis Huntly, Todor Kondevski, Jarred Graham, Ben McLean, Tony Tartaglia, Sebastian Pagana, Danny Chevalier, ANZ POY leader Jesse McKenzie, ANZPT Sydney champ Michael Kanaan, Aussie Millions champion David Gorr, ANZPT Gold Coast winner Peter Matusik and, of course, Team PokerStars Pro Tony Hachem.

12:25pm: Scarf gets frisky early

Andrew Scarf and Michael Kanaan haven't wasted any time getting to know each other on Table 10. It was a battle of the blinds as we caught Andrew Scarf betting 250 from the big blind on the flop of [ac][tc][ah]. Kanaan called before both players checked the [qh] turn.

The river was the [3s] which looked like a blank and Kanaan checked it again to Scarf. 1,225 was the amount that Scarf decided upon - a hefty overbet that confused Kanaan. He eventually made the call and Scarf showed [jd][4d] for the airball as Kanaan took it down with [qs][td].

12:20pm: Play underway!

The players have settled into their seats and been welcomed to Casino Canberra. After some final instructions, the word was given to the dealers to shuffle up and deal!

Once again today we'll be playing seven levels, with player starting with a 20,000-chip start bank.





The Casino Canberra Poker Room is expected to be pushing capacity this afternoon as Day 1b of the ANZPT Canberra Main Event kicks off. The locals will be ready to kick-start their long weekend while the interstaters have arrived for their shot at ANZPT glory.

Today's field will be highlighted by Team PokerStars Pro Tony Hachem and ANZ Player of the Year points leader Jesse McKenzie. It's going to be a battle of new school versus old school as the POTY race heats up in the nation's capital!
